HTML Validation

HyperEdit offers live HTML validation, which uses the same engine as the W3C validator. Red underlines will appear when the validation has encountered a mistake. Live validation is enabled by selecting the checkbox in the options palette or set for default on all new windows by selecting the checkbox in the content preferences.

Note: In order for validation to work correctly, a doctype must be specified at the top of the page. For more on doctypes, visit: http://www.w3.org/QA/2002/04/valid-dtd-list.html.

Error descriptions are reported in the error drawer, and double-clicking on them will select the offending line of text.

Even if live validation is not turned on, a quick validation can be performed by pressing the "Validate Page" button in the Errors drawer or through the Tools:Validate Page item in the menu bar.
